Omaze Me: The Creative Take on Fundraising

Matt Pohlson and Ryan Cummins founded Omaze because they were inspired to create a better way to fundraise. As two broke college students, they attended a charity auction for the chance to meet Magic Johnson (their childhood hero) but were quickly priced out of the opportunity, which raised $15,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. They realized there had to be a way to not only use this kind of once-in-a-lifetime experience to raise even more funds and awareness for meaningful causes, but also to make these opportunities available to any fan who dreamed of meeting their hero. Now, nearly five years later, Omaze's platform is radically changing how nonprofits fundraise, dramatically improving their exposure on a global scale while making giving both fun and engaging for entirely new donors.

Omaze partners with celebrities and influencers to offer everyone the chance to have once-in-a-lifetime experiences. A donation of as little as $10 through the Omaze platform enters donors for a chance to win a dream experience, like riding in the Batmobile with Ben Affleck, returning a serve from Serena Williams, joining Matt Damon on the red carpet or touring the set of Guardians of the Galaxy with Chris Pratt. The excitement generated by these experiences allows nonprofits to reach a global audience and raise significantly more funds and awareness than traditional models, while also offering anyone with a few spare dollars the chance to live their dream. Since launching in 2012, Omaze has impacted more than 200 charities and received donations from over 175 countries.
